Heavy duty lifter for reels of wire
April 1st 2008

Working with a manufacturer of heat exchangers for the automotive industry, Packline has designed a solution for lifting and forward tipping reels of binding wire weighing up to 300kg.

The reels needed to be lifted from pallets where the reel's core was in the horizontal, then transported to storage. They then had to be removed from storage and rotated 90° so the core was horizontal ready for loading to the production machine's mandrel.

A forward tipping clamp attachment was developed to fit the company's heavy duty lifters. This has a streamlined profile to allow reels access to the tight storage area.

The torque controlled clamping action ensures the correct gripping power is applied. Once clamped, the reel can be forward rotated by releasing the clamp arm location pin.

The company manufactures a range of bespoke and standard attachments to suit their heavy duty lifters.
