Free guide updated
February 1st 2008

Electrical safety testing specialist Seaward Electronic has updated its free guide to portable appliance testing (PAT) in line with the new IET Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment The updated version of the guide takes into account fundamental changes to the latest IET advice on PAT testing. These include the introduction of alternative or substitute leakage tests as well as the recommendation to perform RCD tests on power cords, extension leads and adapters which incorporate RCDs.

The responsibilities of employers, manufacturers, importers, hirers and maintainers are each considered in the booklet, with full reference to the legal requirements to test and the implications of the Electricity At Work Regulations (EAWR 1989).
