Coaching for safety programme

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

Securus Health & Safety’s IOSH Approved Coaching for safety programme has been included on the Offshore Safety Professionals Register (OSPR).

Owner Michael Emery said: “This is great news. We’re thrilled to be a part of the OSPR initiative and it’s further confirmation of the increasing realisation there is of the importance of coaching skills for safety people.”

OSPR is a growing professional membership of oil and energy HSE professionals who are working together towards the advancement of credibility within the offshore sector. The objective is to strengthen the position of members by creating a platform which offers the recognition and opportunities HSE professionals need.

OSPR has developed eligibility criteria (levels 1-5) which categorises members depending on documented evidence, such as qualifications (NEBOSH Certificate / Diploma & HSE NVQ 5), and experience, in a similar fashion to many other professions.

“I think it’s very astute of those at OSPR to include Coaching for safety at level 2 and above,” Michael added. “It sends a clear message about the importance of developing a collaborative style to complement technical knowledge.”
