Sky’s the limit for height safety specialist

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

Height safety specialist ESAT Safety Systems has secured major contracts with UK airports and a high street retail chain, after just 12 weeks of trading.

The company has also signed contracts to work with facilities management and modular building companies.

Neil Chippindale and James Bodell, who have 20 years’ collective experience in the height safety industry, founded ESAT in June this year. ESAT designs, installs and distributes a wide range of maintenance, high-level access and fall protection systems across the UK, including PPE, internal lifting equipment and safety lines, for customers in a range of sectors including construction, health and safety, manufacturing, roofing and retail.

It is one of just a few height safety companies in the country with accreditation from global building materials manufacturer, Kingspan and is an approved installer and distributor of products by 3M – one of the world’s largest fall protection companies.

As well as designing and installing, ESAT tests and certifies internal lifting equipment, guardrails and walkways, access ladders, fixed anchor points and PPE.

The company’s fall protection services are designed in-house to suit a range of requirements, with high-quality technical drawings issued with every quote. They include horizontal and vertical safety lines, overhead systems, single point anchors and abseil posts.

High-level maintenance services include facade, gutter and window cleaning. ESAT also offers planned maintenance schedules, annual load testing, training and repairs for building maintenance units (BMUs), ladder installation, bespoke fabrication, safety rail installation and bespoke access and safety solutions.

All equipment designed, installed and distributed by ESAT meets all current British standards.

Recent projects carried out by ESAT include installation of safety lines and access ladders for a retail chain and facade cleaning for a UK airport.

Neil said: “After working in the height safety sector for many years, we decided to combine our experience to launch a new business to drive height safety standards and deliver reliable solutions to the industry.

“When it comes to safety, quality is of the upmost importance to us. This is why we are proud to be a 3M Fall Protection installer and SafePro2 for use on all Kingspan roof structures.”

As well as driving standards in height safety, ESAT is keen to get involved with the local community after moving into carbon-negative office space in South Yorkshire.

James said: “Next year we plan to donate used heavy duty ropes to local Scout groups and sailing clubs as a way of giving something back.
“This is an exciting time for us and it’s great to be able to use our safety skills to help so many different businesses.”
