Protecting delivery drivers

Lone Worker Solutions (LWS) has signed a two-year contract to protect lone workers at Berry Bros. & Rudd, Britain’s oldest wine and spirit merchants, established in the 17th century.

LWS's proprietary LoneWorker Manager software platform will safeguard the company’s delivery drivers, using its mobile phone application. LoneWorker Manager Mobile provides an advanced smartphone app offering a full range of emergency, proactive and reactive support.

Berry Bros. & Rudd's Basingstoke warehouse stores over 1 million bottles of wine and spirits, drivers are often responsible for transporting stock of significant value to retail and trade customers.

Available for Android, Windows and iOS smartphones, the app uses both GPS and GPRS technology to provide accurate location data and the fastest possible alert transmission in the event of any emergency.

LoneWorker Manager Mobile features an SOS button which overrides the handset’s keypad lock allowing fast access in an emergency. For Berry Bros. & Rudd, this Push4Help Red Alert feature adds an extra layer of protection and security for when drivers are leaving or arriving back at the company’s warehouse.

Meanwhile, when using LoneWorker Manager Mobile, features such as Heartbeat and LoneWorkerDown run seamlessly in the background without interrupting the normal function of the smartphone. Berry Bros. & Rudd were attracted both to the periodic welfare check provided by the Heartbeat feature, giving peace of mind to drivers on the road. Additionally, they anticipate that LoneWorkerDown will provide useful reactive support feature in the event of a driver falling or being involved in an accident.
