Achieving ISO 45001
Make Business, business services division of Make UK (formerly EEF), has supported international information technology company, Fujitsu, in achieving ISO 45001, the first organisation to be awarded the new standard by global testing, inspection and certification expert, Bureau Veritas.
Fujitsu EMEIA identified the international standard as a route to business-wide consistency and worked with Make Business to re-write the management standard to meet its organisational needs. Partnering with Make Business, Fujitsu effectively achieved its legal and language requirements and was able to cross borders to ensure compliance for its 140,000 employees, in 100+ territories.
Make Business created a comprehensive international legal register spanning over 30 EMEIA countries, which enabled the organisation to establish a single set of workforce-wide behaviours, overcoming language, cultural and legal barriers. Head of health and safety at Fujitsu, Simon Head, says: “We considered various global partners and, after due diligence, chose Make Business. For Fujitsu, as one of the first global technology businesses to achieve ISO 45001, the programme has generated substantial reputational value.
