Louise Ward
HSEQ DIRECTOR Louise Ward was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her longstanding service to the safety industry.
With experience in rail, utilities, government and manufacturing, gained over 25 years, Louise has been key in promoting professional health and safety across multiple industries.
Her recent involvement in the Safety4Good initiative – developed by UK Health and Safety leaders to promote the industry through raising money, donating time and mentoring those early in the early stages of their careers – has also shaped the future of safety by attracting young people to the profession and developing the careers of the industry’s future leaders.
Louise says, "Our success is defined by the absence of incident, and we’re at peace with that. However it means that our dedication and effort frequently go unnoticed. So I think that events like this one are hugely important. It’s an opportunity to celebrate all the innovation, hard work, tenacity and humility that health and safety professionals put in, to help our employers and clients reach the point where nothing happens!
"It is a huge honour that my peers have chosen to celebrate my professional efforts with this award. I don’t feel old enough for a lifetime achievement award, but I am pleased and proud that my efforts over the last 25 years have made a positive impact on others.
