An innovative digital hearing
protection tool for construction
and industrial workers
has been launched by
Siemens Hearing
Instruments. The SecureEar
device, which fits snugly in
the ear canal and provides
protection from loud noises,
also incorporates specialist
software that amplifies the
sounds users want to hear
such as conversations with
colleagues on busy sites. The
device can dampen loud
sounds by up to 35db and
help minimise risks to hearing
health.

Fittings for SecureEar are
made by professional hearing
specialists to ensure a snug
and tailored fit to the ear
canal without causing
pressure. The device comes in
natural skin tone colours and
can be complemented by an
antibacterial aloe vera gel.

“One of the most common
types of hearing damage
results from people working
in noisy environments,” says
Wendy Davies, national sales
and audiology manager at
Siemens Hearing
Instruments. “It is vital to
protect ears from loud sounds
that can reach over 100
decibels and while ear
defenders and traditional
moulded plugs may offer
protection, they require
frequent removal to hear
surrounding sounds such as
speech. SecureEar combines
innovative digital technologies
that stop what can damage
the inner ear yet at the same
time interpret and amplify the
softer sounds around you.”
