Health and Safety Matters magazine is excited to be returning to Coventry with the next instalment of HSM Live on 4 June 2025. Find out why you need to be there.

HEALTH AND Safety Matters Live returns to the Coventry Building Society Arena on 4 June 2025 with the next instalment of the conference series. Brought to you by the publishers of Health & Safety Matters (HSM) magazine, the event is set to be co-located with the NEBOSH alumni conference.

The first edition of the HSM Live series took place on the 16 November at Edinburgh International Conference Centre and was attended by over 400 occupational safety and health practitioners. It was a resounding success and soon proved just as popular at last year’s Coventry edition.

The event’s headline sponsor is HSI Donesafe and EcoOnline is our theatre sponsor. ?????????? are sponsors. The Safety Knife Company is our bag sponsor and our supporting partners are NEBOSH, Health and Safety Executive, IOSH and the British Safety Industry Federation.

There will be over 40 leading brands exhibiting and experts from these companies will be on hand with their expertise and product solutions. Im between conference sessions, visitors will be able to browse the exhibition of leading companies including Blackline Safety, Dupont, JSP, Minuendo, Resmar and ZoneSafe. You can see the full exhibitor list in this preview.

The event will feature a seminar theatre curated by HSM, which will deliver CPD-accredited seminars from leading industry figures sharing best practice, case studies and legislative updates. The magazine has a long-established history of offering CPD seminars and webinars for our audience and also has a long history of events in the sector.

You can see the timetables of all the sessions in this preview, but I’d like to highlight some of the ‘must-see’ sessions here. The opening address will be delivered by Sarah Newton, chair of the Health & Safety Executive.

HSI Donesafe’s James Watson will highlight that even the most advanced safety technology is only as effective as the people using it. His session will explore how organisations can break down cultural barriers and drive real participation with EHS technology, transforming it into a tool for empowerment from the front line to the boardroom.

EcoOnline's Ed Pietruszewski will be exploring how you make a case in investing in AI. This session will explore the tangible benefits and return on investment (ROI) that AI can bring to businesses, their people and the planet.

PPE Saves Lives

A presentation from Alan Murray, CEO of the British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF) will look at the vital role that PPE plays in maintaining and preserving Safety and Health in the Workplace. The presentation will cover the role played by PPE in protecting individuals and the impact that quality PPE can have from protection to enhancing wearer wellbeing. It will cover the need for PPE to perform and the benefit in trusting in quality and compliance.

Simon Turner from Driving for Better Business is presenting a new online resource, completely free to use, which has the potential to deliver a huge positive impact on how employers deliver driver safety – especially those, and there are many, that currently have no driver policy at all. It will help employers create, review, store and update their own Driving for Work policy and it will cover all the key relevant risks for managing policies, drivers, vehicles and journeys. Campaign Manager Simon Turner will talk delegates through why they must legally have a policy, what a good policy looks like, and how to ensure driver engagement.

There will also be a fantastic session on health and safety case law from DAC Beachcroft's Mat Breakell. This seminar will consider individual liability in health and safety law and discuss how roles and responsibilities are being construed in health and safety regulator investigations, and whether the limited number of individual prosecutions is reflective of the investigation process and impact on individuals.

Mock trial

The whole day concludes with the health and safety Mock Trial being delivered by DAC Beachcroft. You can join the market leading SHE team from DAC Beachcroft for this mock trial, which examines what happens when both an organisation and an individual are in the dock following a workplace incident. The case involves a fatal fall from height during roof maintenance works. Are the defendants guilty or not guilty? Be part of our jury and decide!

There are many reasons to attend HSM Live Coventry. It will provide fantastic networking opportunities with like-minded OSH professionals and it provides a great chance to forge new connections and share experiences and best practice with your peers. You’ll enjoy 20 CPD seminar sessions and will receive CPD certificates for attending. The event is completely FREE – including complimentary tea, coffee, refreshments and lunch.

Situated in the heart of the UK the Coventry Building Society Arena is within two-hour drive of 75% of the population. Easy access makes the Arena an ideal destination. With three train stations within eight miles, Birmingham International Airport only a 20 minute drive away, and London Euston 55 minutes by train. The Arena also has its own on-site railway station.

Health and Safety Live Coventry is the perfect way for your team to be educated on regulation, legislation, compliance issues and best practice, while exhibitors will have the latest information on products and solutions in the market. We look forward to welcoming you to Coventry on 4 June 2025.
