Fragment retention lamp
manufacturer, GlassGuard, has
come to the rescue of a major
manufacturer of laboratory
equipment following a dangerous
occurrence in a hazardous area.
A laboratory flask containing a
volatile substance exploded whilst in
use, resulting in serious and costly
damage to the locality. GlassGuard
provided a solution by applying its
BlackBand fragment retention coating
to a number of evaporating flasks.
This ensured that in the event of
breakage, the shattered glass would be
contained and would not spread
throughout sensitive laboratory areas,
thus minimising the risk of both
chemical contamination and injury to
personnel.
GlassGuard is better known for its
fragment retention lamps, however
the fragment retention coating can be
applied to a variety of glass objects.
