Safety device for roofing

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

Designed to save time and money for roofing companies engaged in small scale projects, the ‘Roof Anchor’ safety device has been invented by Yorkshire-based roofing specialist Chris Hopkins and was sparked by his own experience of being a roofer for more than 20 years.

Hopkins, managing director of Ploughcroft, explains: “I was frustrated at the amount of time and money we and other roofing companies were having to spend putting up scaffolding on short duration works.

“I was convinced I could come up with an alternative that would still meet safety standards but without the time and expense of erecting scaffolding.”

The Roof Anchor is made up of a harness, rope grab and anchor device which attaches to timber rafters or trusses. It is manufactured in Britain, is tested to BS EN 795 standards and will fit all types of roofs specified in the installation instructions.
