Open forum

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

Serving and former members of the armed services – all of whom have suffered some form of physical injury while on active duty – recently attended an open forum at Jungheinrich’s Birmingham showroom and training centre.

The aim was to gauge how easily powered pallet and ride-on pallet trucks, reach, counterbalance and VNA Combination picker/stacker trucks could be modified to allow anyone with a disability to operate them effectively.

The event was jointly organised by third party logistics specialists, the Poppy Factory (where poppies, crosses and wreaths for the Royal British Legion’s annual Remembrance Day appeal are made) and Skills for Logistics.

Jungheinrich’s Craig Johnson said: “Along with our partners, we hope to be able to demonstrate that the physically impaired have an important role to play in the modern logistics industry.”
