Stay safe with apps

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

Strategic Management Systems is launching a series of mobile health and safety apps applying the experience of developing quality and safety management systems used by the largest ship operator in the world, amongst others.

The apps are marketed on a B2B basis designed for specific customer requirements. What makes these apps different is that they are integrated with a web service that enables information to be “pushed” or “pulled” to or from a mobile device. This enables companies to channel and retrieve information from remote sites and mobile staff.

Uploading data from devices to the web service ensures secure storage of the data in the event of loss or damage to the device. When required printed documents can be created on site using a wireless (Bluetooth) pocket sized A4 printer. SMS has chosen the Android OS for the flexibility it offers in relation to design, distribution, device features, security and multi tasking.

The concept of an integrated web service and mobile device can be readily adapted to other business processes where there is a need to distribute and gather information from mobile operators. SMS is currently offering several apps available for customisation including: risk assessments, on site inspections, and distribution of H&S guidelines and procedures.
