Assuring the safety of compressed air

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

When ambient air at atmospheric pressure is pressurised using a compressor the natural contamination is concentrated and if a safe barrier is not provided the operative’s lungs and immune system can be seriously challenged leading to serious health issues.

There is a European standard for the quality of compressed air used for respiratory protection (EN12021) and also a COSHH code of practice.

Safewell provides training to end users and health and safety management in how to competently assure the safety of the compressed air used for respiratory protection. The company also manufactures air purification systems and can test units and help customers manage the life cycle service and maintenance of equipment used.
