The main advantages of merino are intrinsic flame resistance, high UV protection and superior moisture and odour management properties. Woollen clothing more often than not is thought of as thick, itchy winter wear. However over the last twenty years advanced sheep selection is now producing strong, light and highly elastic wool fibres which, when combined with modern manufacturing techniques, create light weight, super soft fabrics with high performance properties.
Established in 2011, Armadillo Merino won ‘Product of the year’ at the 2012 NatWest start-up awards, and has already secured contracts with numerous international field testing and procurement institutions including The UK Royal Marines, Marine Police, and RAF Mountain Rescue Service.
