Designing in safety

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

Loading and lifting equipment manufacturer Transdek UK believes that designing in the highest levels of safety is central to the success of its award-winning product portfolio.

For example, its V2G (vehicle to ground) lift has won the Design4Safety Award (Automation) and all Transdek systems are built to meet or exceed Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and NE1570:1999. Safety features are designed in across the company’s range of double deck lifts, with twin interlocking on front and rear platform gates, inbuilt emergency egress ladders, fully interlocked dock management systems, and platform-operated maintenance safety locks.

General manager Leon Butler adds that it is vitally important to carry out regular scheduled servicing on all loading bay equipment to ensure that it remains in a safe, reliable and efficient working order.

“We strongly recommend that planned preventative maintenance by fully trained service technicians is carried out to deliver continuous productivity in the loading bay and to help prolong equipment lifetime. As a more cost effective and accurate servicing measure, we also offer a routine cyclical maintenance programme option for equipment fitted with optional run-time monitors.”
