Surface treatments supplier, Surface Technology, has been awarded the Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Specification (OHSAS) 18001 certificate for the Health and Safety management systems at its Leeds, East Kilbride and Irvine sites.

The company has previously been recognised with the ISO 14001 environmental management standard and the ISO 9001 quality management standard. The addition of OHSAS 18001 shows safer working conditions and improved performance across the business.
The OHSAS 18001 standard is an internationally accepted method used to assess and audit occupational health and safety management systems and, was awarded following an assessment by the government-backed accreditation service, National Quality Assurance (NQA).

Andrew Courtney, group operations director of Surface Technology, said: “The achievement of the OHSAS 18001 award is testament to the hard work and dedication of the teams at our Leeds, East Kilbride and Irvine sites and the recognition confirms that we are fully committed to the welfare of our employees.
