BS7671 compliant clip

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

Elsie Fixings has launched a new metal clip designed to hold overhead cabling in place in the event of a fire.

Compliant with the January 2015 amendment 3 to BS7671:2008, the new Elsie Fire-Hold Safety Clip is designed to resist extremely high temperatures, thus holding metal cables securely in place assisting safe evacuation.

According to Elsie, the new clip is proving far cheaper to install than the alternative of replacing plastic trunking with metal. This, the company says, means that most plastic trunking can be saved instead of being ripped out and cost savings can be enormous.

The clip is suitable for retaining alarm cabling, twin and earth, fire alarm cabling, CCTV and armoured cabling – standalone or in combination with other Elsie Safety Fixing clips.
Fixing the Clips in place is simple and, according to Elsie, using a concrete screw ensures the installation is heat proof and will not collapse during a fire. In the event that a fire melts the trunking and cabling sheath the Elsie Fire-Hold Safety Clip is said to retain the cabling in place, thus saving lives.
