VOCs: why speciate?
The Quantitech stands (Nos. 44 & 51) at AQE 2015 in Telford, the air quality and emissions show, will feature three different technologies for measuring individual organic compounds.
This is important because VOCs mostly exist in a mixture of more than one organic
compound, so measurements can be misleading unless the individual compounds are
speciated.
AQE2015 will provide visitors with the chance to see the new FROG-4000, a portable PID GC said to be capable of analysing
trace levels of individual VOCs in air, soil and water. Quantitech says this technology enables
fast on-site analysis in a range of environmental, health and safety
applications, which is a benefit because samples containing volatiles are
notoriously difficult to transport.
Quantitech will also demonstrate a portable gas
chromatograph toroidal ion trap mass spectrometer, the TRIDION-9 which is also
designed to be suitable for site analysis. Portable Gasmet FTIR analysers will also be on
display, offering simultaneous analysis of multiple compounds.
The company is also running workshops on multiple gas
detection/analysis during the event – at 10am on Wednesday 22 and 11am on
Thursday 23 April.
