Portable fume extractor
Extractability, a division of Weldability-Sif, has launched the ProtectoTwin unit, a twin high-pressure turbine with adjustable speed control that is specifically designed to extract and filter metal particulate fumes created in welding processes.
The ProtectoTwin is highly portable, weighing only 25kg, and is supplied on swivel castors. Combined with its small dimensions (300mm x 300mm x 670mm), these mean that it is easily manoeuvrable and so suitable for a number of applications. These include small fabrication shops, single welding bays with on-torch fume extraction and maintenance welding.
The unit is supplied with a 2.5m hose and magnetic foot welding nozzle, and is fitted with a BIA M filter cartridge that filters hazardous substances to more than 99% efficiency. Additionally, dual ports facilitate local extraction via hood and torch extraction from a single unit.
The filter is automatically cleaned with compressed air, providing a long filter life. The particles are collected in a dust collection drawer and can be easily removed from the unit.
