Asbestos removal services
Preston-based SCS (Specialised Cleaning Services) has become one of just a handful of clearance companies in the UK qualified to inspect and remove asbestos.
SCS, which delivers cleaning services to businesses and Housing Associations across the North West, is adding this new service to its range of specialisms which includes trauma cleaning, contaminated waste disposal and needle sweeps, in addition to general property clearance services.
The firm, which operates a fleet of 16 vans and employs 30 staff, is introducing a six-strong dedicated asbestos team, headed by asbestos manager Terry Peers. In addition to asbestos removal services, the team will also survey suspected asbestos sites.
Company owner Sarah Southworth says: “We noticed a gap in the market for the non-licensed removal, when we realised that having the asbestos removed was holding up our void cleans for up to a month.
“As this would result in the client losing rent on the property, we decided to provide a responsive service that can take just a few hours on urgent jobs or up to 48 hours on normal jobs."
