RoSPA opens socially-distanced training

Posted on Wednesday 10 June 2020

ROSPA HAS reopened the doors of its health and safety training centre, ensuring that face-to-face training can be delivered safely for everyone.

Delegates were welcomed to its training base in Kings Norton, Birmingham, on June 2, for what was the first time since lockdown began. Now RoSPA has a range of face-to-face courses ready to deliver over the coming months, including safer people handling and NEBOSH and IOSH courses.

It’s been made possible thanks to a full risk assessment of the training centre by RoSPA’s experienced workplace health and safety consultants, to ensure that all courses can be delivered safely.

Protective measures include regular sanitisation of all equipment, facilities and surfaces, strict social distancing measures when entering, moving around inside and exiting the building, provision of PPE where appropriate (for example, during safety-critical safer people handling practicals), and flexibility for delegates should they develop symptoms of COVID-19 or be required to self-isolate under the test and trace system.

Nathan Davies, RoSPA’s head of training and consultancy, said: “We’re delighted to be able to reopen our training centre so soon after easing of restrictions was announced, but that’s down to the hard work and dedication of my team, which has been going on in the background to ensure we would be in this position.

“The lockdown period has been tough for so many businesses, and the return-to-work process is likely to be a difficult and confusing one as none of us have ever been through this before, but thanks to our experienced team we’ve been able to grapple with the complexities of COVID-19 and social distancing, and are back up and running.”
