AEDS at Rugby Union World Cup

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

Martek Lifecare has been awarded the contract for supply of Lifeline VIEW automated external defibrillators (AED) to every Rugby Union World Cup 2015 venue.

This lifesaving device is said to be so simple to use, even an untrained bystander can perform a rescue.

According to Martek, the Lifeline VIEW is the only AED on the market to include a full-colour video screen that provides instructions for each step of a rescue. Alongside vocal instructions, the added visual element means the AED can be used quickly and easily even in busy and noisy environments.

The purpose of an AED is to save someone suffering sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). This affects six million people worldwide every year – that’s one life every two minutes. It can affect anyone, at any time – including healthy athletes and sports fans.

“Martek Lifecare are proud to be supporting such a significant sporting event with our essential lifesaving defibrillators,” said Steve Coulson, director and founder of Martek Lifecare, “and we applaud the Rugby Union for recognising the importance of protecting the safety of both players and spectators during this huge event.”
