Two Teesside Entrepreneurial
organisations have developed an
innovative approach to training in
behavioural safety. OEL-Apix and
Awaken Consulting launched a fully
accredited inaugural Diploma in
Behavioural Safety/Safety Coaching
in February 2011. The programme is
recognised by the Association for
Neuro Linguistic Programming
(NLP) and the Association for
Coaching and is thought to be the
first of its kind.

Glenn Ridsdale, general manager
for OEL-Apix said: “Behavioural
based safety is a key ingredient to any
mature safety management system, as
it focuses on the people element to a
business. The HSE attributes a large
portion of workplace accidents to
human behaviour, so addressing the
people element with positive focused
behavioural interventions not only
supports continuous improvement
of Safety performances, but adds
tremendous value to businesses
striving for continuous safety
improvements.”
