Bulmor’s platform to superior safety

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

The Bulmor Lancer brand has introduced an access platform designed for all sideloaders with capacities of 10 tons or more.

The platform was developed to improve entry into truck cabins as a result of Bulmor’s research into customers’ comments. As a guide, on an 18 tonne truck the platform is approximately 1.700 mm off the
ground.

The platform extends by pushing a button from outside the truck. It is operated
electrically and can therefore be used without the truck running. Once the
operator is inside they push a button inside the cabin and retract it. A safety mechanism is said to ensure that the truck does not travel with the platform outside.

When getting out the operator applies the
hand brake, sends out the platform, gets out of the truck and moves the
platform inward by again pushing a button.

Bulmor Lancer describes its side
loading design as being the key choice for long, horizontal and deemed as
awkward loads – within industries such as steel, piping, timber and window. All of the
trucks are said to cope with long, heavy and large material in confined spaces. They can be used inside, outside, on uneven ground and over long distances. There
are two main formats – the electric fourway sideloader and the IC version
fourway sideloader. The electric version is designed to solve all materials handling tasks.

The trucks are manufactured in Austria to European standards and supported by the UK subsidiary offering
direct purchases as well as a rental fleet backed by a parts service and
in-house mechanics.
