CE Marking and Motorcycle Clothing

Posted on Tuesday 8 October 2019

It has recently come to light that some economic operators in the motorcycle clothing supply chain have been led to believe that they are allowed up to five years to test and certify their products to the PPE Regulation – and that they may continue to place products on the market during that period, even if those products have been submitted for testing and have failed?

Hertfordshire Trading Standards and the British Safety Industry Federation confirm that this is not correct and that Motorcycling Clothing must comply with the terms of the Personal Protective Equipment Regulation (EU) 2016 / 425 which became applicable in April 2018.

For more information on how to ensure compliance with the law please follow this link to the BSIF / Trading Standards frequently asked questions on motorcycle clothing and CE
