Containing hazardous materials

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

Ensuring people and facilities are safe from the risks of storing hazardous materials on site is a challenge for any company.

S Jones Containers’ shipping container modifications are professionally engineered to provide safe storage of hazardous materials in the most suitable site location, often remotely to main site buildings and populated areas to minimise risk.

Although most common uses of containers for hazardous materials are bunded chemical stores, other projects have included containerised storage of cigarette lighters, fireworks, and lithium ion batteries for the development of electric power vehicles, as well as blast retardant applications.

From single containers to multi container stores, these custom units are professionally engineered to comply with health and safety and legal requirements and can be fully insulated, and fitted out with ATEX lighting and ventilation systems.

Other projects include converting standard 40ft steel shipping containers to protect workers on refinery sites during maintenance shutdowns, designed to withstand a 5PSI chemical blast.
