Cool & comfortable

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

TECGEN XTREME garments from INVISTA, which meet the National Fire Protection Association’s specifications for both wildland firefighting (NFPA 1977-2011) and technical rescue ensemble (NFPA 1951-2007), were designed for firefighters to wear as an alternative to heavy, hot turnout gear when they are on non-structural fire or emergency calls.

The protective apparel is available in a single-layer lightweight coverall or as a jacket/trousers combo. Both options protect firefighters against thermal and physical hazards while allowing them to keep cool and comfortable.

“Structural fires make up a small percentage of calls for firefighters, but many fire fighters still wear structure gear for nearly every call. We offer TECGEN XTREME apparel that can be worn in the place of turnout gear for 70-80 percent of responses,” said the company’s Todd Herring.
