Council employees complete training

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

UTN Training has completed nearly 2,000 hours of skills training for Barnsley Council employees. UTN provided 70 council employees with training in the New Road and Street Works Act (NRSWA), Manual Handling and Abrasive Wheels.

A total of 53 employees took the NRSWA Operatives course and five attended the NRSWA Supervisors course, with the remainder attending the Manual Handling and Abrasive Wheels training courses. All the courses were delivered at UTN’s dedicated training centre in Wakefield.

The Barnsley Council contract was the latest in a series of local authority training contracts awarded to UTN. Other councils that UTN has provided skills training for include Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, Wakefield Metropolitan Borough Council, Huntingdonshire District Council, Cardiff City Council and Cheshire West & Chester Council.

To provide further information about the New Road and Street Works training course UTN has produced a video, which can be viewed at www.utntraining.co.uk

UTN trains 25,000 delegates every year on work at height, health, safety and construction industry courses. Training can be delivered from UTN’s network of 27 training venues throughout the UK or in some instances at a customer’s work site. Online course options are also available.
