Disability infographic
Evacusafe UK, one of the leading manufacturers of evacuation equipment for mobility impaired people, has released an infographic which highlights statistics regarding disability in the UK.
The infographic reveals that one in five people within the UK suffer from some kind of disability, equating to almost 9 million people with mobility impairment.
Accessibility is still a significant issue and, despite legislation that requires premises to provide suitable access for mobility impaired people.
David Della-Savina, sales & marketing manager for Evacusafe, said: “The UK has legislation in terms of The Equality Act 2010, which makes organisations and businesses responsible for improving accessibility. What we aimed to do is remind them not to forget about their emergency evacuation plans for exiting their premises and to show the bigger picture for those who may be affected. The more this information is shared, the more people are aware.”
