French industrial safety specialist
SERV Trayvou Interverrouillage has
developed the DEU (dispositif
d’évacuation d’urgence), a new
system to prevent an operator
becoming trapped in a dangerous
area. Made entirely from stainless
steel, the DEU is suitable for use in
harsh or dusty areas and is said to
satisfy all standards currently in force
relating to emergency exit systems.

The DEU is mounted in
conjunction with a latched access
lock. Any operator finding themselves
trapped inside a dangerous area
simply pushes the DEU’s button and,
with this simple gesture, frees the
latch from the DEU. The operator
can then leave the area.

If fitted with safety contacts, the
device can also enable an emergency
stop circuit to be opened and
therefore the machine to be stopped.
