Gripple has launched a
comprehensive, fourpronged
campaign in the
UK to encourage
construction specifiers to
‘face the facts’ and focus on
the significant benefits of its
innovative wire joining,
tensioning and suspension
systems – starting with the
environmental advantages.

The initial phase of the
initiative highlights the fact
that Gripple’s wire rope
suspension system, because
of its reduced bulk and
weight, offers a CO2 saving
of 95%. It is estimated that a
saving of 1.2kg of CO2 will
be achieved for every metre
of wire rope specified in
place of rod. This means an
estimated 100,000t of CO2
has so far been removed
from the UK alone.

Because the Gripple
system is compact and
lightweight, it also
minimises transport miles,
both in volume and weight.

Recently, in a 15,000ft2
DIY warehouse,
containment and lighting
was installed for a client
with strict environmental
targets for new build and
refurbishments. With this in
mind, Gripple provided a
detailed environmental
impact study which assessed
the CO2 emissions which
traditional methods would
produce. The company was
able to show that using its
system equated to a
reduction of 4.5t CO2 per
store.

The project director said:
“Not only did we achieve a
marked reduction in CO2
emissions but also saved
significant installation tim
