Good report for driver training provider

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

System Group, which trains drivers for local and national logistics operators, has achieved a Good Ofsted inspection report (Grade 2) in a move that strengthens its position as leading the way on the Government’s skills agenda in the sector.

The report praised the hard work of senior leadership and managers at the Liverpool-based firm, which has led to improvements in the quality of training and achievement rates.

It also revealed that trainers and assessors possess good technical ability and subject knowledge, allowing them to coach learners skilfully and develop their practical skills.

The inspection covered all aspects of training delivery, reviewing the effectiveness of leadership and management, and the quality of teaching, learning and assessment. It also looked at the personal development, behaviour and welfare of the learners on their programmes, and learner outcomes.

The training provider, which operates across the UK and employs over 60 skilled trainers and assessors, is tackling the UK-wide demand for qualified LGV drivers. It has also thrown its support behind the express trailblazer apprenticeship and other initiatives designed to equip employers with the workforce skills they need.

Rachel Shorrock, System Group's director of training, said: "We are delighted with this latest Ofsted. We're working hard to embed our values in every aspect of our training to equip learners with a vital employment edge.

"We'll be building on this success, looking for ways to improve the experience of our learners, apprentices and employer clients."

System Group receives government funding for its apprenticeships and for employability programmes.
