response to regularly
monitored MET office
weather warnings.

A recent report by
the Hospital Episode
Statistics for England and Wales
showed that 15,237 people were
admitted to hospital during
2010/2011, with injuries directly
associated with falling or tripping
over snow or iced surfaces that were
left un-gritted. A further 13,420 road
casualties were recorded last year
alone, 79 of which were fatalities.
