Guardrail for metal profile roofs

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

Corrugated metal roofs pose a large problem when it comes to roof safety, Skyway Safe Access Equipment says. “Their uneven surface make them a natural trip hazard, while also extremely slippy, especially when wet,” the company adds. Unfortunately, these roofs often need to be accessed for maintenance and other work and so a very real danger exists to their occupants.

Collective edge protection in the form of a guardrail system is claimed to be the most effective form of protection on metal profile roofs. While weighted or free-standing guardrail is not really an option due to the roof profile, Keeguard Topfix provides a suitable safety solution.

It incorporates a specially designed base plate which can be securely attached to a wide range of standing seam and metal roofs up to 45°. This plate can be attached to standing seam roofs while not penetrating the roof surface, while metal profile roofs are fixed using rivets which provide minimal penetration.

Fully compliant to the relevant standards, including EN 13374, Topfix is quick and easy to install and can be modified to suit individual requirements.

Skyway Safe Access Equipment provides a full design and installation service, including technical advice and support. It also offers a free site survey and can quickly provide an efficient solution with the minimum of fuss.
