Minimise false alarms

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

A common concern for customers looking at lone worker safety systems is the problem of false alarms.

Lookout Call tries to minimise the likelihood of a false alarm being raised, by sending a reminder SMS to the lone worker that their countdown is due to end. If the countdown does expire, Lookout Call automatically calls the lone worker and asks them to enter their PIN to cancel their timed session. They also have the option of extending their timed countdown by an additional half hour.

If the lone worker fails to respond with their PIN, then an alarm will be raised with their nominated responder at that point.

Being mobile phone based, Lookout Call says that there is less of a tendency for false alarms compared to other device-based systems on the market. This may be because workers are in the habit of regularly checking their mobile phone.
