Recognition for solar powered gate access

A new approach to securing worksites has put Green Gate Access Systems on the map for the highways and construction sectors with the Maidstone company shortlisted for a major industry award.

Green Gate Access Systems developed its SOSEC range of products to answer a growing need to provide public safety and work site security, where power provision is not practical, but security and safety demands are high.

The solar powered product offers mobility, durability and flexibility in a single easy-to-deliver platform that can be adapted to suit work site demands. It has already proved a hit with new and existing clients, including Keir Living and Taylor Wimpey, who have rolled the system out to 40 UK sites to date.

A partnership with Detling based Highway Care, has seen the product adapted for the highways sector, with a trial launched on a stretch the M23. It is said to mark the first time solar technology has been used this way on the UK motorway network.

The SOSEC product range has been shortlisted in the Commercial Innovation of the Year at the Construction News Awards 2017. The winner will be unveiled at an awards ceremony taking place on Thursday, 13 July.

Neil Sampson, MD of Green Gate Access Systems, said: “It’s a fantastic start to the year for us as we settle into our new home in Boughton Monchelsea, where we now have more room to not only meet demand, but to create more jobs in the months and years ahead."

Green Gate Access Systems moved into its new home last month, a space that is six times the size of their previous home on the Parkwood Industrial Estate on Bircholt Road, Maidstone.
