Safety in storage

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

SEMA’s one day safety conference will be held on 6th November 2014 at the National Motorcycle Museum, Solihull.

Nine speakers will cover current statutory and product related topics plus case study material on the theme of “Safety in the Storage Industry: Working towards Zero Harm”.

In one presentation, Neil Pinder of safety specialist Spanset will look at how falls from height still play a major part across the storage industry and that risk assessments need to follow the statutory hierarchy.

Michael Bone, HM Inspector for the HSE, will also outline how the body operates the Fee for Intervention scheme where those who break the law are liable for the recovery of the HSE’s costs related to the incident.

Other topics will include the safe use of storage systems in relation to PUWER and CE marking and how to choose the right forklift for the application. The event starts at 9.30am, includes a buffet lunch and costs £125 + VAT.
