Up on the roof

Up On The Roof…The Brymore Group property company had problems at a Surrey office block, where workers needed roof access to service the air conditioning units, and window cleaners needed to access the ManSafe clips for their harnesses.

Over time, the roof panels and box gutters had got damaged and the protective paint eroded. The contractor, Montagu Waterproofing, used FibreGrid’s GRP Walkway System, which is high performance and low maintenance. Glass reinforced plastic grating is suitable for roofs: it’s tough, lightweight, won’t rust and is anti-slip. It is also fire retardant, chemical resistant and non-sparking.

From the 40 types of grating FibreGrid produce, the firm chose 38mm holes with Buzon feet to raise the grating above the gullies so water could flow under the grating, and operatives could safely walk on the grating without touching the roof. 25mm grating was used for the ‘up and overs’.

FibreGrid’s grating is available in yellow, green or grey as standard (though virtually any colour can be produced to order).
