Vehicle restraint recognition

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

The annual Club Demeter Innovation Project recognises outstanding examples of product development which meet its assessment criteria of originality, practicality and sustainability.

From a shortlist of seventeen applications, the PowerChock vehicle restraint system from GMR Safety has been selected by Club Demeter Environment & Logistics as an outstanding innovation and will now undergo a thorough testing programme throughout 2016. GMR Safety are a Canadian manufacturer of vehicle wheel restraint systems; the North American market leader and growing very fast in Europe.

The company's Powerchock series of truck and trailer restraint systems has been designed to prevent trailer-creep and premature-driveaway, two of the most dangerous and prevalent causes of accident in warehouse loading bay environments.

The GMR PowerChock systems impressed the project selectors for a number of reasons: they are highly effective, they are compatible with all types of vehicle and they have a very long maintenance-free life. The judges were also swayed by the versatility of the Powerchock range, its low cost of ownership and its wide range of options. Simple and reliable operation was also considered a key feature, important in a product where the safety of personnel is at stake.
