Weightlifting at work

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

A health and safety organisation – which introduced the mechanics of Olympic weightlifting to its workplace training – is sponsoring a team of talented British athletes to attend the World Weightlifting Championships in Almaty, Kazakhstan this November.

Founded in 1996 by former weightlifting world record-holder Davy Snowdon, Pristine Condition delivers bespoke training programmes using Olympic weightlifting and anatomical principles.

“By funding the men’s squad at this year’s World Weightlifting Championships, we hope to not only build on the success of the Commonwealth Games and increase awareness of the sport on a world stage, but use the event as an opportunity to educate the business community about how the mechanics of weightlifting can be applied to the working environment to reduce manual handling related accidents,” Snowdon said.

In some cases Pristine Condition’s clients have seen a 100% reduction in the number of recorded manual handling incidents, accidents and claims as a result of using weightlifting techniques for manual handling.
